We are recruiting the second class for our largest course.

Course Objective - give students all the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to perform and teach Georgian dance, as well as to create their own productions.

You'll learn:

Georgian dance (women's and men's part)
Georgian dance teaching methodology
Choreographer
The history of Georgian dance
The history of world choreographic art
Georgian language (3-month course)

At the end of the course we are holding a class concert in Tbilisi, where you'll show what you've learned and where several thesis papers will be shown.
We invite Georgian choreographers and dancers to the concert.

*you will need to come to Tbilisi only at the end of your studies for 2 weeks to defend your diploma and to attend a class concert.

STUDENT

you go through the entire program, do it, regularly receive feedback, take sessions and submit your thesis.

VOLUNTEER STUDENT

you are admitted to all classes and materials, but you do not do d/z, do not receive feedback, do not participate in sessions and do not submit your thesis.

THEORIST

you attend only theoretical disciplines and write a scientific article at the end of the course (optional).

Who is this course suitable for

• dancers who are fluent in Georgian dance, but who want to expand their knowledge in theory, practice and choreographer;
• dancers who know only the basics of Georgian dance and want to fill existing gaps;
• professional dancers from other dance styles;
• teachers who want to study/develop methods of teaching Georgian dance.

ATTENTION! If you don't have any background in Georgian dance yet and you are not a professional dancer from another field, you should start your studies with simpler and shorter courses (see the “courses” section)

The program:

The training program consists of 2 courses, each course consists of 2 semesters

1st year, 1st semester

Let's talk about posture and how to keep it.

We will learn how to navigate in space by points.

We will study all leg positions found in Georgian dance: both parallel and inverted.

Let's take a closer look at how to adjust the main positions and positions of the hands. Most of them will meet in different dances.

Let us examine the specifics of the positions and work of the brushes in Georgian women's and men's dance.

We will learn how to “hold the point”, as well as rotate in place and sideways, pirouettes and move forward (shene).

We will learn the basic elements of classical dance at the machine and compose a lesson in Georgian style.

1st year, 2nd semester

Let us examine in detail the female and male dance parts: “Kartuli”, “Davluri”, “Kintouri”, “Karachokheli”

2nd year, 1st semester

Let us examine in detail the female and male dance parts: “Gandagana”, “Khorumi”, “Rachuli”, “Svanuri”

2nd year, 2nd semester

Let us examine in detail the female and male dance parts: “Mtiuluri”, “Khevsuruli”

We will develop the idea for your thesis and implement all your bold ideas!

Within 2 weeks we will prepare a class concert and defend our diploma certificates in Tbilisi.

entrance test:

In order for us to assess your level of training, you must take a short entrance exam.

When? October 21 (11:00 Tbilisi time)

What do you need?

Perform the “Kartuli” dance (if you don't know it, try to learn it from the video)
Perform any dance (not necessarily Georgian) that will reveal (in our opinion) your dance technique.

The length of the composition is no more than two minutes.
